That's eight victories in the last 10 games for Michigan State vs. Michigan. The two teams will meet in Michigan Stadium with the Spartans trying to upset the No. 7 college football team in the nation. Even the teams that have inconsistent records might have the right matchup against a team, and any team with a winning record will have target on them. London later broke a 50-yard run that put Michigan State in position to push the Wolverines from their heels to their backsides before halftime.
The defense continued its strong play, holding Michigan State to only 94 passing yards for the game and only two first downs in the second half.
Ultimately, the No. 7 Wolverines succumbed to Michigan State with a score of 14-10 capping off the evening, with the Spartans taking the victory for the 8th time in 10 games played against Michigan.
For the past several weeks we have been hyping this game up as chance to beat up our Little Brother. MI needed a miracle of its own on Saturday to beat the Spartans, but it wasn't to be.
Faced with a similar punt situation, Michigan State did what Michigan couldn't in 2015 and successfully got it away, into the end zone for a touchback.
The going doesn't get easier for MI, which will have to play the rest of the season without starting quarterback Wilton Speight.
On the drive's third play, O'Korn found Perry over the middle for a 17-yard gain that was ruled a touchdown initially, but a video review ruled him down just short of the goal line. It fell to the ground incomplete, ending any hopes of a MI miracle. Meanwhile, the Michigan Wolverines are 4-0 with no losses on their record so far this season.
But the Spartans couldn't hold MI off a second time, with O'Korn throwing 16 yards to Grant Perry and Khalid Hill's 1-yard run pulling the Wolverines within 14-10 with 8:09 left in the third quarter. The betting is going heavily in favor of MI covering the spread with only 23% for the Hoosiers and 77% for the Wolverines.
Then the Skies opened and the rain started coming down in buckets for the rest of the game.
After Saturday's loss, O'Korn took responsibility for his three interceptions.
The weekend started with the biggest upset of all, as Iowa State faced then ranked No. 3 Oklahoma.
The last one is a stretch, mainly because Michigan's defense will keep them in every game. The play calling last night was horrendous.
But after running the ball fairly well and utilizing short passes over the middle to get to the 11-yard line, MI abandoned everything that got them there and went with a play that hasn't worked all season. MI will be in action this week as they travel to Bloomington, Indiana to take the Hoosiers in a noon kickoff. Through five games previous year, Minnesota was 114th in the NCAA and 12th in the Big Ten with 43 penalties (361 yards).
